GuangdongLitchi Engineering Research Center, an important collaborative innovationplatform for litchi industry, was established in Oct. 2015 after approved byGuangdong Science and Technology Department. The Center intends to makecontributions in all fields of litchi— from the theoretical to the applied. Itconsists of three research groups: genetic resources and breeding,eco-physiology and cultivation, and postharvest handling, storage andtransportation. Currently the Center has 26 full-time faculty members including11 full professors or researchers. During 2013-2016 academic years, members inthe Center obtained 8 national or provincial awards, right of 4 varieties, and6 national patents and published around 150 papers (including 80 SCI papers).
